  1. 1

    The record

Every card gets a Mintdex record number on its label.

  2. 2

    The exact card

Photographed front and back by its custodian, so you see the real card, not a stock image.

  3. 3

    A named custodian

A named, identified custodian holds the card, shown on every card's record.

  4. 4

    One collectible

One digital collectible, tied to this card and nothing else. While we test, it has no value.

  5. 5

    The claim route

The holder asks, the card is delivered and the collectible is retired. In testing this is a software rehearsal.

How it works

  1. Checked and stored

A named custodian receives the card, photographs it and records where it is kept. You can see who holds it.

  2. Made digital

The card gets one digital collectible, tied to that exact card and nothing else.

  3. Traded or claimed

Sell or swap it without posting anything. When someone wants the real card, it is sent to them and its collectible is retired.

Selling by post, or moving only the ownership.

Who holds your card

A person you can name, not an anonymous vault.

A custodian is a named, identified person or dealer. They receive the card, photograph it, record where it is kept, and send it out when the holder claims it.

We have not appointed any custodians yet. When we do, each one will be named on the record of every card they hold.

Straight answers

Where something is not built yet, the answer describes the plan.

Is Mintdex live?

No. We are testing with real graded cards and test transfers. Nothing is for sale.

Can I buy or sell a card now?

No. There is no marketplace and no payments yet. Join the waitlist to hear when a small first pilot opens.

What is the digital collectible?

A digital record tied to one exact card. In the plan, whoever holds it can claim that card. While we test, it has no monetary value.

Can I get the real card?

That is the claim route. In the plan, whoever holds the collectible asks for the card, the custodian sends it and the collectible is retired. In testing this is a software rehearsal and no real cards are sent.

Do I need anything to join?

No. Joining only needs an email address.

Who is behind Mintdex?

A small team based in the UK. We will introduce ourselves properly before any pilot opens.
